On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, His Excellency Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, received His Excellency Colonel Antonello, Military Commander of the Italian Coalition Force, and an accompanying delegation.
During the meeting، the latest political and security developments in Iraq and the region، relations between Italy and the Kurdistan Region، Peshmerga training، the process of reform and reunification of the Peshmerga، the dangers of Daesh and the establishment of peace and stability in Iraq and the region were discussed.
During the meeting، the Vice President of the Kurdistan Region appreciated the role and effectiveness of the Italian forces in the framework of the international coalition against Daesh in the region، and reiterated the support and cooperation of the Kurdistan Region and the Peshmerga forces with the coalition forces in the region.
For their part، the visiting delegation viewed with interest the continuation of relations between their country and Iraq and the Kurdistan Region، and reiterated that their forces will continue their military support and assistance to the Peshmerga and look at the process of reform and reunification of the Peshmerga in order to stabilize the political situation and strengthen the Kurdistan Region.
