On Monday, 24/3/2025, His Excellency Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, received His Excellency Colonel Luca Velzik, Military Commander of the Italian Allied Forces.
During the meeting, the Vice President stressed Italy's relations with the Kurdistan Region, and praised the role of the Italian forces in the framework of the international coalition against Daesh and its military cooperation and assistance, especially their training of the Peshmerga.
For his part، Colonel Luca Velzik reiterated the continued support and military assistance of the Italian forces to the Peshmerga، as well as the joint operations between the Peshmerga and the Iraqi army and its coalition forces in the areas where ISIS is hiding.
The latest developments and the political and security situation in the region، the reforms of the Ministry of Peshmerga and the acceleration of the process of Peshmerga integration were another topic of discussion.
