On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, visited the headquarters of the 2nd Division of the Peshmerga Forces and was received by Major General Rebwar, the Commander of the Division, and senior officers of the Division.
In his meeting with the senior officers of the Second Division of the Peshmerga Forces، the Vice President praised the role and courage of the Peshmerga forces at all stages to protect and defend the land and the country، and stressed that the bunkers and bases where the Peshmerga forces are stationed should be given more attention in terms of logistical assistance and military needs، in order to maintain security and tranquility for the citizens and the region.
Afterwards، the Vice President of the Kurdistan Region visited the security of Qarahangir district of Kirkuk province and spoke with concern about the recent terrorist attack on a security base in the district، in which a security officer named Mr. Jawameer Aziz Rashid was martyred، and expressed his condolences to the comrades of the martyred Jawamir. He stressed that terrorism is still a real threat to Iraq and the region in general، and therefore the coalition and the Iraqi army must be a major helper alongside the Peshmerga forces to eradicate terrorists and eliminate such terrorist acts that are carried out from time to time on the frontlines of the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army.
For their part، the commander and senior officers of the 2nd Division and the Director of Security of Qarahangir thanked the Deputy President of the Kurdistan Region for his visit and support to the Peshmerga forces، and then highlighted the importance and necessity of such visits and meetings to discuss their problems، and pointed out that their visit will give more enthusiasm to the officers and the Peshmerga forces to defend the land and homeland more sincerely.
