On Monday, 18 August 2025, His Excellency Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, received Mr. Irfan Sadiq, British Ambassador to Iraq and an accompanying delegation.
In addition to the relations between the Kurdistan Region and the United Kingdom، the latest political developments in Iraq and the region، the reforms of the Ministry of Peshmerga and the steps to unify the Peshmerga within the framework of the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs were discussed in the meeting.
Regarding the outstanding issues of Erbil-Baghdad, which was another topic of the meeting, emphasis was placed on the continuation of discussions and negotiations and the resolution of the issues in accordance with the constitution.
In another part of the meeting، which was attended by the British Consul General، Mr. Andrew Beasley، they discussed the upcoming elections to the Iraqi parliament and the further cooperation and development of diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and the Kurdistan Region.
