On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, His Excellency Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, received Mr. Niccolò Fontana, Ambassador of Italy to Iraq, and Tommaso Sansoni, Consul General of Italy in the Kurdistan Region.
During the meeting، the latest political and security developments in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region، the process of reform and reorganization of the Peshmerga، the continuation of Peshmerga training، the dangers of Daesh to the region، and joint work and further coordination between the Italian coalition forces within the framework of the international coalition forces against Daesh، the Peshmerga and the Iraqi army were discussed.
During the meeting، the two sides stressed the need to develop relations between Italy and the Kurdistan Region and Iraq، and stressed the importance of understanding and unity between the political parties of the Kurdistan Region in order to accelerate the formation and establishment of the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government، stabilize the political and economic situation and provide prosperity to the citizens.
