The president of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Jalal Talabani received a high-level Russian delegation headed by Mikhail Bogdanov، the Russian president's special representative for Middle East and African affairs and deputy foreign minister at the Politburo headquarters in Erbil.
In a meeting attended by Rafaat Abdullah and Dr. Hawdo Sheikh Daro، members of the Political Bureau، Dara Khailani، the head of the PUK's foreign relations، Major General Omar Saleh، commander of the 70th Forces، Polo Shalaw، and Ali Askari، the head of the Peshmerga intelligence، the presence of the two sides emphasized the development of relations between the two sides at all levels in the context of protecting the highest interests.
In the same meeting، President Bafel Jalal Talabani reiterated PUK's keenness to expand the horizon of cooperation in order to serve the highest and common goals، and said: "PUK is with all friendship and joint work to serve our country and stability in the region، and for this we want to develop the relationship that President Mam Jalal has built in all aspects and make it more powerful in our region."
During the meeting، political and military developments in the Middle East and Iraq، especially Syria، were discussed، and stressed the need to maintain security and stability in the region in such a way that the problems can be resolved through dialogue and a national mechanism should be adopted to overcome the challenges and protect the rights of all parties، especially in Syria and Western Kurdistan.
President Bafel presented the strategy of the PUK for all the changes and issues and stated that the PUK wants a responsible perspective and is dependent on the peaceful resolution of problems and the existence of balanced relations between all parties so as to protect the country from wars and conflicts.
