Bafel Jalal Talabani, president of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received in Dabashan Victoria Taylor, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, and a delegation from the Kurdistan Region.
During the meeting, which was attended by Darbaz Qusrat Rasool, the head of the School of Communications, the situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and the maintenance of stability in the region were emphasized.
During the meeting, Bafel Jalal Talabani explained the policy of the PUK and its efforts to face the challenges and solve the problems, noting that "We are committed to protecting and defending the rights and livelihoods of our people, and in this context, we continue our efforts to form a servant and just government, and we want equality and true partnership to be its basis."
He added, "We all want to serve our people responsibly and free from any conflict and steer our region towards greater prosperity and stability."
Regarding the problems between Erbil and Baghdad، the issue of salaries and the transfer of financial dues to the Kurdistan Region، President Bafel said: "We ask for compliance with the decisions of the Federal Court and we want to find a permanent solution to this problem، and this situation cannot be continued and people's lives should be interfered with by conflicts، and we have conveyed this message to all parties."
The situation in Syria and western Kurdistan was another topic of the meeting, in which President Bafel said, "Our efforts have been to protect the rights of all Syrian nations and components, and we have emphasized on understanding and dialogue, especially with the Kurds, who have made great sacrifices to maintain peace and stability."
"Kurdish unity and unity in Syria has been an important part of our efforts and we have tried to get everyone to move forward with a common strategy, and we have happily succeeded, and the results will be clear in the future," President Bafel said.
In another part of the meeting، the issue of energy was discussed in detail and in this regard، PUK president explained the position of the PUK and pointed out that the policy adopted in the past on this issue has not been successful، so PUk wants to manage this sector in the future with a new strategy that will lead to the development and prosperity of the country، and in this context، it hopes to reach a joint agreement with Baghdad and serve the people together.
