The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Jalal Talabani received Maxim Rubin، the Russian Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.
During the meeting، they stressed the need to develop relations and expand cooperation in the context of safeguarding the interests of the region and the stability of the region.
During the meeting، the latest political developments in the Middle East، especially the situation in Syria، were discussed، and the two sides reaffirmed their dialogue and understanding as the basis for resolving the problems and protecting the rights of all nations and their components within the framework of a stable country.
President Bafel Jalal Talabani referred to the PUK's national policy on all issues and said: "Peaceful resolution of problems and return to the negotiating table is our policy of work، and we will support any effort made within the framework of protecting the rights of the Kurdish people and the stability of the region، and the current situation in Syria requires real understanding and partnership، and we hope that all parties will work in this spirit for the future of the country and the lives of its people."
The formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) was another topic of the meeting، and President Bafel explained that radical change in the governance process is an important need of the stage and that the next government should provide its services in a fair manner and its goal should be to strengthen and rebuild Kurdistan and not to discriminate and monopolize power for the sake of partisan interests.
