Bafel Jalal Talabani، President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in Erbil، received Steve Bittner، the U.S. Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.
During the meeting، which was attended by the head of the Communications Office، Kosrat Rasool، the situation in the Kurdistan Region after the elections، the issue of Peshmerga and the provision of services were discussed.
During the meeting، President Bafel Jalal Talabani explained the position of PUK on the formation of a government and said that PUK is looking forward to the formation of a service and healthy government that reflects the wishes of the people and that no party can impose its intentions and desires and use government institutions for its own benefit.
"With the support of the people, we have been able to put an end to tyranny and prevent this misguided rule from continuing any longer," President Bafel said. The next step will be to establish justice and avoid discrimination، and I hope that all parties will adapt to this principle، because the government that will be formed will belong to the people and not to a particular party.
Regarding the reforms within the ranks of the Peshmerga and the unification of the forces within the framework of a national force and on the basis of justice، President Bafel pointed out that "we see any effort outside the agreements as a blow to this national process، so we hope that everyone will act responsibly and we certainly appreciate the cooperation of our friends in order to achieve this goal."
Regarding the process of "My Account،" the President of the PUK said: "This issue is over، we will implement what the people want and our efforts are for them، and in this context، we will support the law by working with a bank account that is in the interest of the salaried employees and not a specific party."
