The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Jalal Talabani received the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Elena Romanowski at the Politburo headquarter in Erbil.
In a meeting attended by Darbaz Kosrat Rasool، the head of the Communications Bureau، the general situation in the Kurdistan Region was discussed and the steps to hold a fair election were discussed.
President Bafel Jalal Talabani commented on the conduct of the elections and the situation of the Kurdistan Region، noting that we are moving towards an important and decisive election، and our region needs a change in the process of governance and administration، and it is necessary to restore legitimacy to the legal institutions. We hope that all parties will cooperate in the success of the process and the holding of free elections that will bring stability and strength to our region.
Regarding the situation of the Kurdistan Region and the lives of its people، President Baffle said that we have always been in agreement with all political forces and parties، and our goal is to achieve a fair life and a stable future، and our efforts have been made in this regard، and we want the government to serve the citizens and not discriminate in the provision of services، as we have unfortunately seen in the past، and people's lives were mixed with political and partisan conflicts and the government was put in the service of partisan interests.
The issue of Peshmerga and the unification of forces was another topic of the meeting، and President Bafel said: "Our position is clear and we reiterate that we want to build a strong national force free from the interference of the party، and for this we will continue our efforts and we do not want to create any obstacles in the way of this national process، and we appreciate the cooperation of the allies in this regard."
