The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in Dabashan welcomed Andrew Beasley، the new British consul to the Kurdistan Region.
During the meeting، President Bafel congratulated the inauguration of his new duties and responsibilities and reiterated the support of the PUK for the success of his work and hoped that this would be an opportunity to strengthen relations and achieve higher goals.
During the meeting، the general situation of the Kurdistan Region and resolution of the problems between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government were discussed. Moreover, the continuation of the dialogue and the efforts of all political forces and parties with the aim of serving the people and building a more stable future with the provision of more opportunities for citizens، especially the youth، and encouraging them in various fields were also addressed.
The issue of elections in the Kurdistan Region was another topic of the meeting، in which President Bafel Jalal Talabani said: "Our efforts to hold the elections and not postpone them for various reasons، our region needs a fair election that will lead to a change in the governance process and the strengthening of legal institutions."
"We have made great efforts to ensure that this election is free from fraud and manipulation of the people's votes، so the expectation of the majority of the political forces and parties is that a fair election will be held on time and that the weight of our region will not be questioned anymore."
Regarding Kirkuk and the completion of the legal and administrative procedures، President Bafel explained the position of the PUK and pointed out that we as the winning party of the election are eager to overcome the problems and appoint a governor who will deepen the spirit of coexistence in the city and serve its people without discrimination، so we are continuing our discussions and hope to reach a positive result as soon as possible and serve the beloved people of Kirkuk.
